What's the difference between the Safe@Office range of firewall appliances and the Check Point UTM-1 Edge appliances.

Although both are based on the same hardware the UTM-Edge devices are typically deployed in remote or branch offices of organisations which already have a checkpoint management infrastructure in place, e.g Check Point SmartCenter, Smart LSM or Provider-1. The Edge devices can then be managed centrally.

Safe@Office appliances are usually either standalone deployments or are managed centrally using SMP (Security Management Portal).

NOTE - Safe@Office appliances cannot be managed by SmartCenter, SmartLSM,or Provider-1.
